Florida does not require that drivers purchase bodily injury insurance!
Bodily injury insurance is what the other party purchases to help pay for your medical bills, lost wages, and other damages. https://www.flhsmv.gov/insurance/ If you are injured by a driver and they do not have bodily injury coverage their insurance will provide no benefits to help pay your medical bills and lost wages. This becomes even more important if you have a job that is physically demanding.

Protect yourself with UM coverage! According to the Florida Insurance Council nearly 23% of drivers are driving without auto insurance. https://www.iii.org/fact-statistic/facts-statistics-uninsured-motorists That is nearly 1 out of every 4 cars on the road. Once you factor in drivers that do not carry bodily injury insurance we are probably around 65 to 75%. UM or uninsured motorist coverage will kick in and provide you the benefits that the other party did not purchase. We all know how expensive medical treatment is! Your $10,000 in PIP benefits provides little value to cover your medical bills and lost wages if you are seriously injured.
